Unincorporated areas count toward state totals but not toward this directory.
All 19,483 PEP places have published profiles. Income, home value and rent filters use nationwide exact-GEOID ACS matches; unavailable and suppressed estimates are excluded when those filters are active. Rent is the 2020–2024 survey median, not a current listing price. Open-ended medians meet a numeric filter only when the entire source range meets its condition.

How Idaho’s population is spread across places
Places of 25,000 to 99,999 residents hold the largest share of Idaho’s covered place population: 36.9% across 11 places. Between July 2024 and July 2025, places of 10,000 to 24,999 residents changed fastest as a group (+3.0%), while places of under 500 residents changed least (−0.1%). Size bands use July 2025 populations; group change sums each band’s 2024 and 2025 estimates.
| Residents in July 2025 | Places | Combined population | Share of place population | Places that grew | Group change 2024–2025 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100,000 or more | 3 | 501,801 | 34.5% | 3 of 3 | +1.4% |
| 25,000 to 99,999 | 11 | 536,250 | 36.9% | 10 of 11 | +2.3% |
| 10,000 to 24,999 | 13 | 191,031 | 13.1% | 10 of 13 | +3.0% |
| 2,500 to 9,999 | 28 | 126,117 | 8.7% | 20 of 28 | +1.0% |
| 500 to 2,499 | 73 | 82,925 | 5.7% | 37 of 73 | +0.4% |
| Under 500 | 70 | 16,977 | 1.2% | 30 of 70 | −0.1% |
What this state directory covers
The list uses Census Population Estimates Program place records (summary level 162): mostly incorporated cities, towns and villages, with their official labels and identifiers. Unincorporated communities and most census-designated places are outside this release, so a named community can be absent even though people live there, and the place totals above are smaller than the state population. Annual changes can reflect boundary adjustments as well as population change. Dollar figures are ACS 2020–2024 five-year medians in 2024 dollars, joined by exact place GEOID.
