Submit a correction

Identify the page, the specific figure or passage, and the source that supports a change. This form prepares an email in your mail application; it does not send a report to a server. You can also copy the prepared report and send it to [email protected].

How corrections are reviewed

For a chart discrepancy, include both the displayed value and the corresponding source row. For a comparison issue, include the selected city names so the same table can be reproduced.

We check the supplied evidence against the retained original file, table identifier, geography and reference date. A disagreement can result from a different vintage, boundary, survey period or denominator rather than a transcription error. Point-estimate differences should also be read with their available survey uncertainty.

When a correction affects a source join or calculation, we rebuild the affected profiles, comparison data, rankings and downloads together. Material corrections are recorded in the updates and corrections log, including the date and the change made. Reports do not automatically change a published statistic, and no response deadline is promised.

The most useful report names the Census GEOID or another stable source identifier and distinguishes the city from a county, metro region, ZIP code or neighborhood. Screenshots alone often omit the source year, so please include the original source link where possible. If a link is broken but the figure is correct, name the link separately.

Your mail provider sends the message when you choose to send it. We receive the email address and message you provide and use them to review and respond to the issue.
