What these locations mean
A dot is the Census Gazetteer internal point for its named place, not an address, downtown destination or city boundary. Places retain their Census entity names, including towns, villages, consolidated balances and Urban Honolulu CDP. County, metropolitan and neighborhood totals are not substituted for place data.
The map uses rectangular longitude and latitude positions for the contiguous states, plus separate Alaska and Hawaii insets. Insets are not at the same scale or in their real positions relative to the mainland. Neither distances nor travel times should be measured from this drawing. The source state outlines are simplified at 1:20 million scale.
Downloads and reuse
The SVG export contains the currently matching place points, embeds the state background and retains source and filter labels. Original map graphics are available under CC BY 4.0: credit US Cities Info, name the Census sources and identify your changes. Underlying federal data are public domain.
Use the national directory to combine housing, income and growth filters. Read coverage and calculations before reusing the data, or report a location mismatch. A map dot does not establish school assignment, flood exposure or service accessibility for an individual address.
